A Spring Mantel

March 15, 2012 by Angie 49 Comments

I can smell it….Spring is just around the corner…just 5 days away.
I’m completely feeling it as I freshen up tablescapes around the house.

I have loved yellow for years and years….it has always been one of my favourite colours for home decor….as the colour of my walls can attest…painted in 2005.

It is such a perfect herald to spring….sunny days ahead.
I live in Canada’s largest most northern city where winter temps can read -40….
so Spring is really something to celebrate.

I want to warn you….I have a few yellow projects coming up in the days ahead.
Part of a spring yellow obssession that is happening right now.

 How about you?
What is your latest colour obssession?

Have you started any Spring projects?
I keep waffling between Spring decorating & Spring cleaning….guess which one is winning?
Love to all!

    Hi Angie,

I was at HomeSense earlier holding that yellow flowered plate in my hands, along with the matching bowl, debating whether to get it!

Your mantel looks fun and fresh and I'm looking forward to some yellow projects! I chose it as an accent colour in my office and love the "pop" that it adds to black and white.

Love your egg filled apothecary, Angie! I was going to do that, too, but the package I was looking at was too much and I would have need two to fill my jar. I'm hoping they are on sale or I can use one of my craft store coupons. Funny you should mention yellow – my second option for filling that jar is my yellow lemons!

Pretty! That's funny as I was doing the same thing today. Found a sweet terra cotta bunny to add to a bookcase top, and I thought i may as well drag it all out of storage – bunnies and eggs. i am adding a lot of light green. But I love your pops of yellow (:

I'm ignoring the spring cleaning for now, maybe once it's actually, officially spring I'll get on board:)

Yellow is such a lovely colour! Apparently it makes houses sell, they recommend that if you want to sell your house you add lots of yellow to it. Like door painting and all the rest. I maintain it's because yellow is a fresh colour, it's the colour of spring and renewal I think that's why people respond so well to it.

We just had another dump of snow here today so seeing your pretty spring vignette was a welcome sight! I'm having a hard time moving forward on spring decor when there is still so much "winter" outside our windows. I think yellow is a terrific spring colour too (wish I was brave enough to have it on my walls – yours look great!)

I love the plate! Well, love it all actually. But the plate got me to thinking. I see so many pretty plates in the stores patterned for the seasons and I want to buy them all. But I think to myself, I have no need for so many dishes! Well, why in the world not use them to decorate! I'm shaking my head right now as this simple revelation hits me. 🙂

I am just so symbolic I guess, but it has given me some ideas for my foyer or mantel. I am love seasonal decorating and yours is so tasteful! Planning on doing some cleaning tomorrow but will set aside a little time to set out some "spring". Thanks for sharing!!!I am once again, inspired…smiles! Blessings, Suzanne
