Hello everyone! Are we all a little excited that summer grilling season is just around the corner? I know I am. Although we haven’t had a chance to do spring cleaning with our deck, BBQ and outdoor furniture yet, we are enjoying the sunny days and grilling away. I am especially excited this year for summer grilling season because I have discovered a brand new BBQ Tool-COOKINA® Barbecue Reusable Grilling Sheet-that is going to make grilling and clean-up easier than ever! I get contacted all the time to try out new products, and there are not many that I say this about, but please run out and buy this tool right away! As a busy mom who loves grilling meals, but hates cleaning the grill afterward, I have to say that this product is truly a girl’s {or boy’s} best friend!
What exactly is COOKINA®? It is a grilling sheet that is the re-usable alternative to aluminum foil, wax paper and parchment paper {and the answer to my prayers, to be honest.} It is easy on the budget {retails for around $14.99 CA} and is super simple to use, grills delicious food and makes clean-up a dream.
This is what it looks like. The package contains one COOKINA® Barbecue Reusable Grilling Sheet, one metal ring to hold the sheet when it is rolled up and a small scrub brush for cleaning. It is non-stick, 100% PFOA-Free, reusable and does not transfer odours and flavours from previous use, and is certified for use up to 550 degrees.
I tried the COOKINA Grilling Sheet out for myself and I want to share with you exactly how easy it is to use.
Simply unroll the sheet, give it a quick wash in warm soapy water,and place on your barbecue. {The sheet can also be cut to fit any size grill.}
To test out the grilling sheet, I made a recipe from the COOKINA website…Grilled Filet Mignon with Caramelized Vidalia Onion.
The first step was to cook & caramelize the onions on the sheets for several minutes before adding the beef.
I placed the onions on the sheet as instructed and began the process of caramelizing.
It wasn’t long before I had these gorgeous brown and tasty onions, and then I was ready to move on to the next step, which was adding the fillet mignon on to the grilling sheet beside the onions.
Since I was making a meal, I also found the sheet plenty big to add asparagus and sliced tomatoes with Parmesan cheese as well. Doesn’t this look delicious?
I love that I don’t have to worry about any of the vegetables falling through the grill either.
In this photo you can see the filet mignon searing on sheet.

It wasn’t too long before the whole meal was ready. All cooked on one sheet too!
Here is what the sheet looked like after the food was removed. I let it cool before removing it for cleaning.
Now it is the moment of truth. Will this sheet be as easy to clean as it promises to be?
I found it was so easy to clean I did not even need the scrub brush that came with it. I just used a dish cloth to remove all the grease and sticky food residue.
Here is the sheet after cleaning. After this picture, I just wiped it down with a dish towel, rolled it up and put it back in the box for next time! So simple and easy!
I think this product is absolutely brilliant! Not only did it allow for delicious grilling, but clean-up was so easy. As a busy mom, I love when things are easy to clean. Normally, I would have had to use some sort of pan for the onions and a grilling basket or such tool for the tomatoes & asparagus, and then I would have had to wash all the greasy residue off all of the pans afterwards. With this reusable grilling sheet, I can cook everything on one sheet. Clean up took less than 2 minutes.
We also go camping in the summer and I plan to take these sheets with us because you know those barbecue pits that often come with a campsite that no one ever uses because who-knows-what the previous campers might have cooked on that dirty grill? Well, I will worry no more because this grilling sheet will protect our food from the black & dirty grills.
And then I think of my mom who suffers with arthritis in her hands…these grilling sheets will be much easier for her to use with the scrubbing of grills and pans virtually eliminated.
I seriously want to give these reusable grilling sheets to everyone I know!

Was there any kind of "after-taste" from the (plastic?) sheet?
Did the food lack the BBQ taste that usually comes from the seer/char of the flames/grill?
