Did you know that I feed my family of 4 for about $500-$600 a month in groceries?
This is strictly food only….no cleaning supplies, or shampoo, etc. I keep that budget separate.
How does this compare to your budget?
What do you spend a month in groceries?
{Remember that my budget is in Canadian dollars}
The guru of grocery budgets is Angela from the Grocery Shrink. blog.
Her family budget for groceries {in U.S. dollars} is about $50 a month per person.
According to that formula, my grocery budget should be around $200 a month.
As my grandmother Ada used to say…Good Heavens!!!
I have a loooong way to go before I reach that level of expertise.
Here’s a look at some of the terrific deals I found at Superstore.
All perfectly good produce for 50% off.
The apples were free from a friend.
Do I have to save money on groceries? No. Not really.
But now it’s become like a personal challenge.
Being a good steward of the family money…so to speak.
We eat well here…no meals of Kraft dinner or beans & weiners.

Wow, that's impressive! Food is a huge money pit for us, and bad/lack of planning is the culprit for sure.

That is very impressive. I also like looking for the deals. Why pay more when that money can be put to better use. Great job!

If we didn't eat we'd be rich lol!
I have to start budgeting better and we eat really well here. You do as well.
My hubby loves food and lots of it so this is a challenge for me and the negative is I love grocery shopping!!
I have to check out this other blog.
If i could get down to $200 a month oh my goodness I can't even imagine it!!
As always great post Angie but you are soooo organized!

I plan our menu every week and it really helps me to only buy what I need. I usually spend about $300 a month on groceries (but I think some household supplie costs sneak into that number) for just two. I pack our lunches everyday and like to shop weekly at the Farmer's Market. We also get all of our meat from a local farm which is really important to me. I may pay a little more for meat, but I like knowing the animals were raised with care- and supporting a local farm is a plus! Your menu sounds delicious!
