Hello friends! I hope you are well! Can I just say how much I love this time of year? In my part of the planet right now, the sun rises at 5:30 am and doesn’t set until 10:00 pm…with many hours of glorious sunshine in between. And do you know what that means?
So much time to be outside. Hours to garden. Moments to savour while front porch sittin’.
I have loved being a part of the Outdoor Extravaganza this month because it has given me a chance to focus on getting some great outdoor projects done.
This here little magazine rack from Value Village? I have had it since last August. Last August! It sat dejectedly in the garage over the winter because I didn’t make the time to get it painted last summer. Or winter.
Just look at it now. With the help of some spray magic, it went from a hot mess to a pretty outdoor planter for our front porch. Filled with flowers and trailers, it becomes a fun piece for outdoor decorating.
I lined the inside of each side of the planter with a plastic kitchen bag to hold potting soil and moisture for the plants. Then I filled them with some easy-to-care for annuals.
I love how it is growing and flourishing already. And the handle makes it super easy to move around.
It was such an easy project too….complete from start to finish in a day. It took me 3 coats of paint to cover the old brown, and then about 20 minutes to fill with plants and water.
We all have exciting Paint & Build projects to share with you today!

I guess we’re both Value Village outdoor project gals today. Love that bright punch of colour. I bet your front porch looks so eye-catching from the street.

What a grand idea! I have repainted magazine racks for my home but I never thought of using it outside. I will be definitely doing this for my front porch. New visitor from Found and Foraged party. Have a great week! Diane

KICKING myself. I had one of those from our old house and I gave it away when we moved. That would have been brilliant on my porch in that colour. You are my go to gal for the porch stuff Angie! I keep hunting for planters lately for out there and I got nothing. I can’t find pretty ones anywhere that are colourful so maybe that’s the answer. Maybe I need to paint my own.

Yes Paula! I love spray-painting and it is the perfect way to get the colour you want! Maybe you could seek out planters at yard sales and spray paint them the colours that you want. And the beauty is that next year you can change them if you want. Have a lovely weekend!

Great suggestion! I prefer to recycle my old stuff so that project is more than welcome! I particularly like the new colour!
