Hello sweet friends! I am so excited to share this project with you! If you have been following me on Instagram or my Facebook Page, then you might know that I have been working on a master bedroom makeover for the past 4 weeks.
I will be revealing everything very soon, but I wanted to share the inspiration for the color story for our new bedroom.
After I painted the walls a soft gray, I was waffling over what accent colors to choose when I happened to be browsing the linen section at Value Village {a second hand store} and I found something that really captured me.
While thumbing through a whole row of curtains, I happened upon this beautiful floral vintage curtain. It really took my breath away as I opened it up to take in all of the pattern.
I thought the floral with a whole range of blues and turquoises was perfectly lovely.
But I couldn’t immediately think of where I would use it. So can you believe that I left it there in the store? It was only when I arrived home that I realized that it would make the most amazing pillow and jumping off point for our bedroom.
Off I went back to Value Village the very next day to scoop up my find!
When I got home, I hauled out my sewing machine to zip up a quick envelope pillow cover for a lumbar pillow I already had.
I just cut off the pinch pleats of the the original curtain so that I had a good piece of fabric to work with.
I made sure that the largest and prettiest flower was front & center on the pillow, and then I sewed it up.
In under 30 minutes, my pillow was done and I couldn’t wait to get it on my bed!
I love it so much and it was so rewarding to think that this piece of vintage fabric only cost me $7.99.
And do you know else loves using vintage fabrics in some of her designs? One of my favourite designers…Sarah Richardson!
Did you know that she has a new book being released soon?
I can’t wait!
Have you ever used vintage fabric for a project?
What was it and how did it turn out?

Love the yellow fabric. I've made pillow covers before but I really need to work on my zipper installation skills.
P.S. I've been working our bedroom makeover for 6 years so you're doing great 🙂

I'm stopping by from 'Cozy Little House'. yes, I've used vintage fabrics for projects: I cut down a vintage 'barkcloth' curtain to fit a smaller window, I've made pillows, used vintage for quilts, and I just made a pillow out of a vintage calendar towel and vintage buttons. I submitted the pillow at our local county fair and won a blue ribbon! It's fun to dig through fabrics at second hand shops, you never know what treasure and inspiration you'll find. Your pillow is soooo pretty! It looks great with the other pillow prints.

So beautiful! I love trolling the thrift stores here – especially the ones run by little old church ladies! They have the most fabulous vintage stuff! Good job on your pretty pillow!
