Despite it being summer, I have been working on a master bedroom makeover for the last month. If you have been following along, recently I shared this post on how I made a vintage fabric pillow as a jumping off point for our makeover. Then I revealed our cozy reading corner for under $100 that I created with thrifted finds. And now I am so excited to share the whole makeover with you!
Let’s visit Chapter 1 for a minute shall we? The proverbial ‘BEFORE’ shot.
This is how the master bedroom looked for 9 years!
9 years people! It was absolutely time for a change!
I was really craving a lighter, fresher look.
So in a weekend of work, I took this large room from dreary brown to soft gray.
We were so ready for a softer and lighter color.
My next project was painting the night stands and lamps.
I first painted the black lamps a shade of blue, but I wasn’t sure it was what I was looking for, so then…
I decided that the blue lamps were a bit too ‘cottagey’ for me, so I re-painted them in fresh white with a gold base.
I love how fresh the white looks after living with darker colors for so long.
And I made a gallery wall of family photos from over the years to fill a large wall by the window.
All of these are Christmas card photos of the kids from 2005 to 2012.
I love seeing them all together!
I gave the silver mirror a quick refresh with a coat of gold metallic paint.
And some fresh pillows with new white bedding keep it looking light & airy.
The pillow in the front with the beautiful flower is the pillow I made from vintage fabric.
And here’s our new cozy reading corner.
We love having these chairs in our bedroom.
They are such a nice addition to a previously empty space.
We are so happy with our bedroom makeover. I just love walking into our bedroom and admiring the fresh new colors and our cozy sitting area.
