Here at our house, the traditional meal for Valentine’s Day is homemade heart-shaped waffles with strawberries & whipped cream and bacon.
Last year, Valentine’s Day was on Sunday and we enjoyed our special meal for brunch.
This year we are having our heart waffles after school at 4 pm before the troops scatter for hockey and skating practice.
Both my kids asked if we were having our waffles and whipped cream and bacon yesterday, so
I think it’s a tradition they look forward to.

Do you have a family tradition of a special meal for Valentine’s Day?

We don't have a special meal, per se, but I usually make up a cute bag of goodies for the kids – especially since there are no more v Day parties at school…I also made a place of cupcakes with chocolate covered strawberries. The table is all red and pink and festive…and the crock is simmering some taco Soup…your meal plan sounds delish!

Since we scoot out the door at 7:15…we are having breakfast for dinner…pink eggs & heart shaped pancakes. My boys are 8 & 6 they got heart shaped pbj sandwiches in their lunches…not sure how that went over. : )
Last year, we did fondue!

Every year the kids throw out an idea, along with my hubby, from baked chicken, to meatloaf, lazagna, one of their favs, then I write them down on paper and toss it in a bowl draw and then make what ever I drew from their favorite dish they pick out, this year was a supper dish, but in past its been lunch, breakfast, what ever fits the schedule for that day, its a surprise, and they like to see who's idea gets drawn…fun…:)

I buy a couple of heart shaped pizzas for us. It is a tradition that I started a couple of years ago! The girls always look forward to it!

I love traditions like that! So many traditions center around food…ever notice that? 🙂 I also love your table setting. So cute. We don't do a traditional meal…I wasn't even home this year… but everyone gets a little goodie bag filled with treat's. This year I included a bottle of Jones soda, with some other goodies.

I love your photo. When are children were small we would use heart shape molds for everything from pancakes to meatloaf. This is my first visit to your blog. I've spent some time browsing through your earlier entries and I'm so glad I did. You've built a lovely spot for folks to visit and I particularly like the food and recipes you feature here. I'll definitely be back. I hope you have a great day. Blessings…Mary
